How to Spark JOY for 4th of July

Happy July friends!~

I’m excited to share a cheerful July blog with you. One that will help you celebrate the 4th of July and also a few challenges toward lifestyle wellness.

Let’s first start with 4th of July. Independence Day commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, symbolizing freedom. Here are a few ways to celebrate.

Festive Ideas and Inspiration

  • Patriotic Decor: Enjoy the holiday, by shining the red, white, and blue table decor, napkins, plate, and even the clothes you wear this weekend.

  • Outdoor Gatherings: 4th of July is such a fun time to enjoy outdoors with family and friends. Maybe it is a barbecue, picnic, and local event happening.

This year, I am planning to head up to Washington with friends to celebrate. It will have music, food, fireworks and lots of JOY!

  • Fireworks Displays: Check out your local town highlights online, social media other opportunities to enjoy the holiday. Local parks and waterfronts become gathering spots for communities to celebrate together.

I wanted to share a few lifestyle wellness challenges for July.

Bible Reading Challenge for This Month

Read Daniel and also Romans or Galatians. They’re full of scripture, truth, and encouragement to strengthen your faith.

Wellness Challenge: Night Time Routine

As a healthcare worker, I often hear patients say they have trouble sleeping. Causes include health problems, too much caffeine, doomscrolling, an uncomfortable bed, or a poor sleep environment. Take time to check your bedtime routine and make changes to sleep better. Keeping your room cool and clean also helps.

Here are a few ideas

15–20 minutes tidying the house
A hot bath
Set phone to Do Not Disturb or silence mode (Tip: Keep the devices out of the bed/bedroom)
Bible reading, Adult coloring or a great book
Enjoy a hobby
Calming tea and a bedtime snack

Finance Challenge: Track Your Spending

Summer’s great, but we often overspend. Use the spending tracker in my Etsy shop to see where your money goes. This helps to keep an eye on those extra spending hot spots like eating out, gas, amazon, subscriptions etc.

Blessings,

Lisa Hice
