How to Spark Joy for Summer
Happy Summer, friends!~
As we step into the Summer season, it’s a perfect chance to slow down, take a breather, and truly appreciate all that this time of year has to offer.
What are some of your favorite Summer memories?
For me, they include chasing waterfalls, going on hiking adventures, enjoying camping trips, walking along the beach, and spending time with family and friends.
This upcoming Summer is a wonderful opportunity to unwind, relax, and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
This coming weekend, I am excited for a getaway from the city to visit a family cabin near the coast.
There’s no internet, no phone, and social media is only available if I head into town. I absolutely adore it. It creates a lovely atmosphere to relax, sit by the river, take a nap, and enjoy delicious meals with family.
Most of the time when I visit, I make a trip into town for a hike, enjoy a stroll along the beach, and treat myself to coffee from a local café. On Sundays, I love attending the local church service. The chairs are filled with friendly locals who always greet me warmly.
Summer is a fantastic time to soak up the sun, listen to the birds chirping, and feel the leaves rustling gently in the breeze.
Take Time to Slow Down and Rest
Sometimes, I find it hard to slow down. I tend to be someone who likes to stay productive and busy.
One great way to escape the noise and chaos of the world is by taking breaks from your phone, the news, and especially social media. While phones can be incredibly helpful, they can also be a major distraction from what is truly joyful, enjoyable, and relaxing. One of my favorite books is by John Mark Comer, “The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry.”
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Perhaps you can relate and wish to fully embrace all that Summer has to offer—the adventures, the scents, the flavors, and all the beauty.
Which places would you like to visit? Are there certain individuals you wish to reconnect with?
I encourage you to take a notepad, a journal, or any writing medium and start creating your own Summer bucket list.
